My operating system is Ubuntu 18.04 and I am using chromium as browser. The search engine for the address bar is google. In the chromium-settings, I disabled all the autofill-options (i.e. "Autocomplete searches and URLs" and "Preload pages for faster browsing and searching"). So, the desired result should be that no urls are suggested when typing in the address bar. Until recently, this worked as intended but now since a day or so, it doesn't work anymore. Chromium behaves as if the autofill-options are enabled (which they are not). More precisely, there are url-suggestions within the address bar and these suggestions are sites which I visited previously during previous sessions. My goal is to disable the url-suggestions again.
Things I've tried which didn't work:
- closing chromium and open it again
- disabling all extensions
- changing the search engine for the address bar
The only way to delete the suggestions I found out so far is manually using the "Clear browsing data"-option (of course, not an acceptable long-term-solution...).
Any ideas how to solve the problem? Maybe a bug? Thanks!
